Now that you are ready to apply, We encourage you to write from the heart and share your music and your story with us. In terms of your music, please share a link to a track/video/ voice memo of your work. It doesn’t have to be polished, just something to give us an indication of the type of artist you are.

This might mean asking your workplace for days off in order to participate in the programs activities. Please note, if you are accepted in to the program we will work with you, your producer and the film team to create a schedule that works for everybody, however we expect flexibility on behalf of the artists to ensure they can make the most of this unique opportunity.

For many artists pursuing a career in music, there exists both subtle and blunt obstacles that make their trajectory harder, compared to that of their peers . In your answer please demonstrate what systemic obstacles you have encountered in pursuing a career in music. When we say “systemic obstacles” we mean obstacles that relate to things that have made your journey more difficult. This could include obstacles that exists due to socio-economic challenges, gender exclusion, cultural challenges, geographical challenges, access needs.

Music and film are vehicles for telling story. Please share with us what story you seek to tell through your music. We will be assessing your application on how you articulate your story through your answer as well as links to your past work.

For many artists who have worked tirelessly on their craft, opportunities such as this are few and far between. Please tell us why now is the appropriate time to undertake intensive mentorship

Tell us about what you think is unique about being in an artist in South East Melbourne

Artists exist in different and alternating states of creative flow. Sometimes it pours out, sometimes it is dormant, needing an external trigger to kick start the tap once again to regain the magic of their past. Please tell us what you hope to gain out of this program artistically. EG Do you want to re-invent your self as an artist? Are you happy with your artistic identify and want to lean in to it further? Are you in a creative high point right now? Are you looking to reclaim that creative energy you had in the past?

Hype Person details

As part of your application, we ask you to nominate a friend/ family/community member as you "hype person". They will come along with you to the activities in the program. They could be an artist/musician/ DJ themselves, have an interest in content creation/film/photography/music production/visual arts/creative writing or they might have an interest music business/ artist management/ publicity and the broader creative industries.
