Name ; age ; identification ; location (ASL)?
My name is Srirachi or you can call me Rachi babyyyy. I’m 21 years old, I identify as a woman and I’m located in Melbourne, Victoria.
Sun, Earth or Moon?
I would choose the Sun because sometimes I feel like maybe I’m one of those alien, lizard people because I feel like I get all my energy from the sun. Like, those months or any day - cause you know we’re livin’ in Melbourne - any of those days where the weather’s shit, there’s no sun, it's super cloudy or super stormy, I don’t feel fully like myself. I feel like there are a lot of times where the sun energises me but at the same time the sun recharges me, it relaxes me so definitely I would choose the sun. Plus! I’m like a big ball of energy, like the sun too.
Why music? What drew you to it?
I don’t exactly know why because I started writing music when I was like 14 right? I wouldn’t say that there was anyone in my family or anyone who kind of really introduced me to music. It’s just that I started listening to music, I really enjoyed it and I really needed an outlet to express myself cause I grew up in an Asian household. Where you know, expressing yourself is not really a thing that we do so I just started writing my feelings into music.
Favourite track created to date and why?
I would say my most favourite track is definitely Archimedes, my most recent single. That song just sounds the best to me personally, the production I love. My producer Deer productioned it towards his new style. It’s kinda a blend, kinda like electronic and more drill vibes. I love U.K music.
“I really love the lyrics to that song (Archimedes) because it’s pretty much everything that’s been racing through my mind as I start to take things more seriously.”

The lyrics, I really love the lyrics to that song because it’s pretty much everything that’s been racing through my mind as I start to take things more seriously.
In the song, I’m talking about other people looking at me differently because I’m doing something that's completely original and unique to me that's, you know, very different from the norm. Especially from the traditional Asian trajectory of a stable career, you know what I’m saying? So that song, the message really resonates with me.
I feel like what I’m tryna say to other people is - I’m choosing this, because I feel like this is what I have to do for myself. And by doing this, it doesn’t mean that I’m acting brand new, like I’m acting like I’m better than you. If you think I’m better than you, then that's just your insecurity - that’s nothing to do with me.
If you could manifest anything to exist in the Outer South East, what would it be?
Perhaps some sort of creative facility that could be shared. Where you can really encourage the Youth to participate. I mean, I’m sure there is already something like that there already. I don’t know about it yet though.
But I think that’d be really awesome especially amongst the asian community because it’s just such a far-fetched idea. It is such a far-fetched idea for Asian kids to be pursuing creative hobbies, I was one of those kids I never had any access to any resources. It was just me and my notebook - and my guitar. But I didn’t know how to play guitar, I taught myself. But yeah, I think that’d be really awesome - a place where people can meet, do stuff together and ultimately enjoy themselves.
What are you doing / where are you going for Tết / Lunar New Year this year?
So! I asked my mum what we’re doing for Tét this and the thing is my mum is so wishy washy with family events. I’m always the last to know out of all my cousins and everything and she said to me - “I’ll tell you after you exam” ‘cause I have an exam next week, so I’ll tell you what we usually do for Tét.
What we usually do is - my whole family gathers, and then we eat - duh - we eat a lot of great food. And after we eat everyone chúc tét - which is like - all the kids, so technically I’m still a kid, you know what I mean, I’m still gonna be receiving lì xì, which is Vietnamese for red pocket.
So all of us kids, will take turns going to the adults, and we wish them a happy new year, we say stuff like I wish you a long life, I wish that you get rich this year that you have a you a year of good fortune and then we get the red pockets and then we play bingo.
So then, that’s always really fun - we pay an entry fee, put it in a bowl and take turns reading the numbers and whoever gets bingo wins , gets all the money. This other Vietnamese gambling called bầu cua I don’t know how to explain that - it’s a different Vietnamese gambling game. We do like a little bit of gambling. And that’s what we do for Tet!
Your local businesses you’d like to shout out?
For businesses I’d like to shout out - so firstly my aunty’s restaurant in Richmond for your pho fix, for your bun bo hue fix you gotta go there it’s called Superbowl Pho & Bun Bo Hue, I think it’s on Victoria Street. Secondly one of my close friends she’s got a baking business it’s called Bite of Bel you have to check it out, you have to try the pandan coconut cake - that bangs. I also have another friend who's in apparel her business is called bourgeouis 61 and she makes really dope clothing. And she’s Vietnamese too.
